Glossary of the terms on your report
Every term below appears somewhere in a Mindscore report or certificate.
Norm group and expected mean
The norm group is the population your score is compared against. The expected mean is the average weighted score that group is assumed to produce on this paper.
Standard deviation and standard score
The standard deviation measures spread. The standard score, or z, is how many deviations you fall from the mean: the core of the whole calculation.
Percentile, reliability and validity
Percentile is your rank in the group. Reliability is whether the same person scores the same twice. Validity is whether the test measures what it claims — a separate and harder question.
